As editor of Samuel Pufendorf’s correspondence and some of his writings in the course of a historically critical anthology, Detlef Döring contributed significantly to the literature on and by the great Saxon polymath and natural law theorist. The editorial work inspired the originator of the ‘Pufendorf Studies’ to compose a series of texts in which he presents the scholar as the author of a number of texts to promote his patron’s interests and that shine new light on Pufendorf’s biography. The most important of these works, which were published in the most diverse contexts, have been partially revised and now reflect the proper editions when citing Pufendorf. They clearly display the close concurrence of Pufendorf’s work and works.
