A volume on law and consensus in the Early Middle Ages (Recht und Konsens im frühen Mittelalter) has been edited by Verena Epp (Marburg) and Christoph Meyer (MPIeR) in the series Vorträge und Forschungen of the Konstanzer Arbeitskreis für mittelalterliche Geschichte. The focal point of the 14 contributions to the volume is the question of what role consensus played in the configuration and legitimacy of secular law and government between the 5^th and 8^th centuries. Christoph Meyer has contributed two articles to the volume, an introduction (Konsens in der Rechtsgeschichte des frühen Mittelalters) and an inquiry into the law of the Lombards (König Rothari begründet seine Gesetze.
