Awarded Books

September 29, 2014

“Studien zur europäischen Rechtsgeschichte”, an academic series published by the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History enjoys even double-award reputation this year.

At the “Deutscher Rechtshistorikertag”, a national conference on latest developments within the discipline, Johannes Liebrecht‘s book on the scientific approach of Heinrich Brunner received the “Hermann-Conring Preis 2014”, a prize offered by the Grunewald Foundation.

The award of the „Deutsche Rechtshistorikertag“ 2014 went to “Schildgeld und Heersteuer”, a comparative study by Carsten Fischer on the development of legal structures in feudalism. The prize is donated by Böhlau and Vittorio Klostermann, three well-known publishing houses in Germany.

“Two awards at once, that is certainly remarkable.” says Karl-Heinz Lingens, head of the editorial team and editor in chief of the Scientific Series at the MPI for European Legal History. According to him publishing and being published is a reciprocal process. Lingens knows that without authors „our academic series would not be what it is today“ – an attractive, community-known possibility to shape the professional discourse. In this respect, the MPI for European Legal History thanks all current and future authors for their valuable contributions.
