A new Max Planck Partner Group has been launched: Santiago de Chile and Frankfurt

June 13, 2019

The group seeks to identify, analyze and study the various institutions and forms developed to extract indigenous labor and tribute from the Hispanic world's frontier territories. The project will focus on the late medieval period until 1898, when the last of Spain's American and Asian colonies had been lost. This Max Planck Partner Group is headed up by David Rex Galindo, former post-doctoral fellow at the MPIeR and now professor at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI), and Thomas Duve, director at the MPIeR. The official collaboration started 1 June, 2019.

Max Planck Partner Groups are designed to facilitate research projects of shared interest with former top junior researchers within the MPS who returned to their home or another country.

Pending a positive evaluation after three years, the partnership can be extended for an additional two years.
