Otto Danwerth: new head of the editorial department

March 01, 2019

On 1 March 2019, Otto Danwerth will succeed Karl-Heinz Lingens as head of the editorial department.

Otto Danwerth came to the MPIeR as a researcher in Department II (Thomas Duve) in 2010 and his work focuses on Ibero-American legal history. He studied history, philosophy and public law at the Universities of Tübingen, Salamanca, Madrid and California State University, Chico and received his doctorate in 2016 from the University of Hamburg with a dissertation on 'Cultures of Death and Religiousness in Spain and Peru (16th-17th Century)'.

Karl-Heinz Lingens is retiring after more than 30 years as editor of the Institute's books series and journals. We are quite pleased that he will stay on at the MPIeR as associate researcher.
