Court records represent a very rich source of information for legal historians. Quite often, the diversity of data and secondary sources connected with lawsuits makes clear how useful a methodological tool can be in helping researchers to organise and systematise this extensive and broad network of documents. The use of databases allows us to systematically organise and structure the data produced within lawsuits. Tatiana de Souza Castro's presentation will be followed by a discussion on the possibilities and limitations of using databases to organise lawsuit data.
