Main Focus

Alexandra is a PhD candidate at the Goethe University, Frankfurt and a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory (formerly Max Planck Institute for European Legal History). Her main research interest is legal historiography and her current projects look at the historical production of legal norms by focusing on the changes in legal practice brought about by new media, thus falling under the research field Historical Regimes of Knowledge Production. The research project Using Normative Knowledge from the Past considers the technical revolution from an historical perspective and, as part of this, her PhD project Localising Norms in the Material uses South Africa as a case study. She employs insights from textuality and materiality theory, thus also participating in the joint activities of the Law and Textuality reading group.
