La justicia episcopal en la antigua diócesis del Tucumán (1704-1740)

The analysis of ecclesiastical justice in Spanish America is a field of research with large historiographical gaps. This presentation proposes to reconstruct the judicial practice in the diocese of Tucumán at the beginning of the 18th century, recovering the actions of the bishops and their delegates (provisors and vicars). In this sense, the questions that guided the preliminary work were these: how did the prelates select their trusted men? What qualities did they need to have? And how did they execute justice and the will of the bishop and the king in the episcopal audience?
