Spanish Abstract: Censos, contribuciones y procuraciones fueron institutos jurídicos de naturaleza patrimonial con los que el derecho canónico gravó los servicios propios de la Iglesia, a fin de que esta dispusiera de recursos materiales destinados a contribuir al sostenimiento de su actividad cotidiana. El presente artículo aborda el estudio de cada una de estas instituciones y su proyección en el espacio hispanoamericano y filipino entre los siglos XVI y XVIII. Desde diferentes perspectivas y ámbitos normativos, se discute acerca de la semántica histórica de los términos, su regulación, sus procesos de adaptación y reelaboración, funcionalidades, usos, características principales y particularidades que les confirió́ el mundo indiano. Dentro de esta voz se tratan también los principales tributos seculares y las tasas que gravaban a la población indígena. Por último, el texto se acompaña de un breve análisis historiográfico sobre de la reciente literatura publicada sobre la cuestión.

English Abstract: Church levies, contributions and alimonies (Censos, contribuciones and procuraciones) were legal institutions of a patrimonial nature with which canon law taxed the the Church's own services, in order to provide it with material resources to contribute to the support of its daily activity. This article studies each of these institutions and their projection in Spanish America and the Philippines between the 16th and 18th centuries. From different perspectives and normative spheres, it discusses the historical semantics of the terms, their regulation, their adaptation and reelaboration processes, functionalities, uses, main characteristics and particularities that they acquired in the New World. The main secular tributes and taxes levied on the indigenous population are also discussed. Finally, the text is accompanied by a brief historiographical analysis of the recent literature published on the subject.
