Curriculum Vitae

Before joining the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory, Teresa worked as a researcher and teaching assistant for KU Leuven’s Institute for European Law and the Reshuffle project. She holds a PhD in EU and international law from the University of Amsterdam (2023) examining the EU’s engagement with the UN International Law Commission, an LLM in public international law from Leiden University (2010), and a bachelor in law from NOVA School of Law in Lisbon (2009).

Teresa’s professional background includes traineeships at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the European Commission Anti-Fraud Office, and over five years of professional experience as a project manager for judicial training on EU law at the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN), in Brussels. She has co-authored two Massive Open Online Courses, one on EU law with KU Leuven, and one on procedural safeguards in criminal proceedings and victims’ rights with the Council of Europe. Teresa has been a visiting researcher at the Graduate Institute in Geneva and the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, and remains an affiliated researcher at KU Leuven’s Institute for European Law.
