In this seminar series, Professor Jorge E. Traslosheros (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) will explore the judicial history of the Roman Catholic Church in viceregal Spanish America, with an emphasis on New Spain. This session will address the judicial system in motion, focusing on the relationship among canon law, the fora of justice and the reform of customs.

Professor Traslosheros's presentation will be in Spanish, but other languages are welcome during the discussion. A commentary will be provided by Thomas Duve.
The seminar series will take place in hybrid form. Both on-site and virtual participation require registration at least one week before the session one wishes to attend. Last-minute registrations will be accepted only on an exceptional basis, depending of room capacity. One may apply for more than one session in the same act of registration.
