What's Special About Archives in Germany? Some Observations

The archival 'landscape' in Germany is colorful and reflects German federalism. The talk tries to characterise this 'landscape' and to illuminate their colorfulness. Other topics to be adressed: How to become an archivist in Germany? Is there one occupational profile ("Berufsbild") or are there more than one? Does archival science in Germany exist? And last but not least: Is it fun to work as an archivist in Germany?
