Representing and communicating the law in British India, c. 1858-1930

My doctoral project focuses on the ways in which British authorities in colonial India created and used particular representations of transplanted English laws and Anglo-Indian laws as part of a broader project of colonial control. In particular this project studies various forms of mass communication concerning particular laws and policies, as well as depictions of the law generally in imperial culture.
