Dr. Aleksi Ollikainen-ReadResearcher
Dr Ollikainen-Read’s work focuses on the history of the law of documentary transfer and its application and adaptation in Southeast Asian jurisdictions. This work involves close study of colonial and transnational trade as well as concurrent legal development.
Aleksi Ollikainen-Read was born in Finland. He moved to England in 2008 to study law at Durham Law School (graduated in 2011). After completing his national service in Finland, he started on the Bachelor of Civil Law course at the University of Oxford in 2012 (graduated in 2013), completed his Master of Philosophy degree in 2014 and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2017 (examined and accepted in 2018). His doctoral thesis was on creditor claims against trust assets in English and American law.
Dr Ollikainen-Read has taught contract law and the law of trusts at Oxford between 2014 and 2018, and held visiting teaching fellowships at the London School of Economics and University College London. In 2015 he was also a visiting research fellow at Harvard Law School.
