Jour Fixe

Japan, China and the Ottoman Empire are three nations who faced the challenge of “translating modernity” in similar settings of intensified contact with the West, pressure by the West and internal needs for reform. How was legal practice transformed in this process? On the jour fixe, the idea for a comparative research project will be presented.
