“Translation” as a key to analyzing the legal past: some explorations of the topic

English Abstract:

This article seeks to explore the potential of the concept of “translation” for legal history. Starting from a discussion of the cultural and linguistic meanings of this concept, as well as how legal scholars deal with them, the article takes stock of how the topic has been addressed by current legal historiography (emphasizing the works of Thomas Duve and Diego López Medina), concluding with a proposal for a research agenda centered around the conception of translation.
