† Ludwig Burgmann

After a long bout of illness, Ludwig Burgmann passed away on Wednesday, 28 August, at the age of 71. As a researcher working on the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities project "Edition und Auswertung byzantinischer Rechtsquellen" (Edition and Analysis of Byzantine Legal Sources), he was at the MPI for European Legal History from 1989-2013. Always willing to contribute his wealth of knowledge, he enriched the scientific debates at the Institute. He remains with us in memory and spirit.
