Plenum: Lena Foljanty: Presentation of the edition 'Fritz Bauer: Kleine Schriften 1921-1969'

Fritz Bauer (1903-1968) is a key figure in post-war West German history. He himself was persecuted by the National Socialist regime and returned to Germany in 1949, where he was committed to building democracy as well as to the persecution of Nazi perpetrators. As the Hessian Attorney General, he initiated the Frankfurt Auschwitz Trial, the one most important trials in post-war Germany.

On the occasion of the publication of the edition "Fritz Bauer: Kleine Schriften 1921-1969" (Campus 2018, edited by Lena Foljanty and David Johst on behalf of the Fritz Bauer Institute), the lecture will shed light on the life of Fritz Bauer and place his work in the context of postwar history. The focus will be particularly on the history of the persecution of Nazi crimes in post-war Germany.
